Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Weddington Primary School certainly has a variety of talented pupils. We thoroughly enjoyed being entertained on Thursday evening by acts including dancers, musicians, singers, a magician and hula hoop performance. The judges had an incredibly hard decision to make when they left to choose the winners, while Mrs Sowerby's recorder group played to the audience. This year's winners are:
First Place - Evie for her wonderful rendition of 'Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo.'
Second Place - Naomi for her beautiful singing of 'Truly Scrumptious.'
Third Place - Ashton, William & Harrison for their energetic boy dance routine.
Children's Winner - Vidal for his amazing drumming to 'Uptown Funk.'
Well done to everyone who took part & a huge thank you to all the helpers.
On Friday the 12th June, Year 1 thoroughly enjoyed their Medieval Day and all the children and even the staff dressed up for the day. Thanks to the Friends of Weddington donation, the children were visited by a medieval expert from 'portals of the past'. He taught the children many interesting facts about knights and the medieval times. The children took part in medieval stories, tournaments, medieval games, acting out a castle under attack and medieval courtesies.
He brought lots of medieval artefacts that the children were taught about and were allowed to touch. The children were given the opportunity to wear a variety of medieval armour and wave medieval flags.
It was an inspiring and fun day for the children and staff, one that we shall all never forget.
The super talented Weddington Recorder Group, under the guidance of Mrs Sowerby, entertained the audience during this year's Weddy's Got Talent last week, with a selection of their favourite tunes including songs from the hit musicals, The Lion King, Sound of Music and Abba.
Emmie & Lily delighted the audience with their version of 'When the Saints' played beautifully on their Treble recorders. Laura performed 'Stranger on the Shore' with her clarinet. Her first performance, but the nerves didn't show. Finally, Year 4, 5 & 6 players dedicated their last song, 'Sing' to our Head teacher as they knew it was one of her favourites.
Mrs Sowerby commented, 'The children never fail to amaze me with their dedication, hard work and enthusiasm. I am extremely proud of them all.'
To support Nuneaton's forthcoming Armed Forces Day, being held on Saturday 27th June, Weddington Primary School will be welcoming a Nepalese Veteran, Vinod Shrestha into school to join our celebration assembly on Friday 19th June. Mr Shrestha will be available at the school gates to meet and greet children and parents into school, wearing his full uniform, before delivering a speech and handing out award certificates to pupils during our assembly. Thank you in advance to Mr Shrestha for joining us on this day. Additional members of the Armed Forces are also invited to join us for this assembly.
Please see the following poster for more information on the Armed Forces Day.
