Autumn Term
Year One have had a great start into the New Academic Year. Mrs Minchinton and Miss Doyle are delighted with how they have adapted to the transition from Reception into Year One!
Our Topic this term is ’Once Upon a Time'. We have been reading and learning about The Three Little Pigs, Thumbelina and The Princess and the Pea. We are excited to see what other twisted tales might come along next term. Maybe The Big Bad Wold isn't so bad after all... We will just have to wait and see!
We have also been working really hard on our place value in Maths and are just about to begin our Addition and Subtraction block of learning, with lots of exciting ways of working out our number sentences and recognising the symbols.
Please use the above document to support maths home learning.
It suggests a maths activity, along with a link to a Youtube information video, for each area of learning.
There is a link to our weekly spellings at the bottom of our class page.
This document has lots of different fun ways to practise spellings. Lots of these we have already tried in classes, and lots are new! Please try to practise spellings, or the Year 1 'Common Exception Words' daily.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
