At Weddington Primary, we will create opportunities for the children to learn how to design within a real-life context. Through the DT curriculum, we aim to inspire children by exposing/introducing them to engineers, designers, chefs and architects across the world. The children will then use what they have learnt and apply that to their work. We will provide them with projects that allow them to learn how to create a range of structures, mechanisms, textiles, electrical systems and food products that are both meaningful and purposeful.
We want the children to be able to foster risk taking, creative thinking, resourcefulness and encourage children to use their imaginations and ‘think big’. Design and Technology will allow the children to utilise a range of cross curricular skills such as maths, art, science, engineering and computing. They will follow a process where they will design, make and then evaluate their work. Analysis and reflection are important parts of DT that will be taught to children at progressively greater depth.
Through this subject, how will the children explore the Pathway of Possibilities to visit The Seven Wonders Of Weddy?
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
