Curriculum Intent Statement:

At Weddington Primary School, our curriculum is designed to align closely with our school vision of fostering an environment where all individuals thrive. We believe that every child should have the opportunity to develop into curious, courageous, and confident individuals who are equipped with the essential tools for lifelong success.
Our curriculum intent is founded on the principles of providing a rich and diverse educational experience that not only meets the academic needs of our students but also nurtures their personal, social, and emotional growth. We are committed to creating a learning environment where children feel valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.

Our curriculum is designed to:

1. Foster Curiosity: We aim to ignite a passion for learning by providing engaging and stimulating learning experiences that spark curiosity and encourage exploration. Through a broad and balanced curriculum, we offer opportunities for children to develop a thirst for knowledge and a desire to question, investigate, and discover.

2. Promote Courage: We strive to instil resilience, determination, and a willingness to take risks in our students. Our curriculum encourages children to embrace challenges, learn from setbacks, and develop the confidence to overcome obstacles both inside and outside the classroom. 5. Values: Where relevant, our school values and British Values will be embedded through the curriculum so there are real links where children know how to become an outstanding British Citizen.

Through our curriculum intent, we aspire to empower every child to become a ‘Weddy’ graduate – a curious, courageous, and confident individual ready to venture into the wider world and embrace the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.

The documents below are the Long Term Plans for each subject. These cover what will be covered throughout the academic year. Topics/themes may be adapted as the year progresses and new areas are planned.
