Welcome to our School Council information.
At Weddington Primary School, we believe it is really important that the children also have a voice, and this is why the School Council is vital for our school.
This page will give you some idea of the roles and responsibilities of our School Council Representatives at Weddington Primary School.
About us
Our School Council representatives share and discuss ideas for ways to improve our school. Each class, from Year 1 up to Year 6, have 2 School Council representatives.
The School Council meet every month to discuss any ideas or issues that have arisen, we then decide on the most effective ways to change and improve the school. We talk to the relevant people to help make any changes happen.
Our council members regularly share news and information with their classes or school.
As a School Council, our aims are:
1. To ensure the children at Weddington Primary School have a voice and are able to raise any issues they are concerned about.
2. To continue to improve Weddington Primary School and make it an even better school than it already is!
3. To raise funds for the school.
What Do We Do?
Members of the Council take part in discussions and are the voice for their class. On occasions, they may need to take ideas back to their class and get votes on certain things. They will also raise any concerns that their peers have.
Members meet regularly with Mrs Seaton to discuss ways in which they feel they can influence the school for the better. This could be improving playtimes, supporting charities, improving areas around the school and so on. Sometimes they also help with big events in the life of the school, such as helping to interview new members of staff!
