We began our day with Years 4, 5 and 6 meeting Nao and finding out all the cool things he can do thanks to the clever coding which has been input in to him. He told us a Star Wars story and even sang (and danced) Gangnam Style to say goodbye.
Years 1, 2 and 3 also got to find out all about Nao. After they had seen how totally awesome he was, they then had the chance to create and code their own robots.
This gave them chance to experiment and find out how to solve problems they were faced with ... coding isn't easy!
Year 4 took to Purple Mash in order to solve some coding conundrums, each increasing in difficulty and requiring more problem solving skills.
Year 5 had loads of fun with hexahexaflexagons ... how many ways did they find to flex theirs? Could they map the path?
Egyptian code colouring was the agenda for Year 6, they had to use a variety of skills in order to see if their partner could recreate the image they were looking at. They could only communicate by indicating a symbol to their partner, each symbol representing a different instruction. This was in order for them to understand that computers can only follow the instructions they are given and that they don't communicate in our language. Tricky to grasp(especially the not talking) but they had lots of fun.
Foundation Stage have continued to explore a variety of technology and how it is used within the world today. Using the tablets, they have begun to think about asking permission before taking photos and checking it is OK to share. Also, they have had fun with some photo effects and even had a go at adding captions and sounds to their fun images.
