At Weddington Primary School, we are proud to be in our 11th year of supporting of Macmillan Cancer Care. Macmillan are a phenomenal charity which are close to many people's hearts, providing care and support for those whose lives and communities have been affected by cancer.
One of the ways we raise funds for Macmillian is through our immensely popular 'Coffee and Cake' afternoon - however this year, due to COVID, it was not to be. Nevertheless, our brilliant Miss James was on hand with a very brave alternative... Miss James decided to willingly shave off her hair to raise funds for this crucial charity. In addition to this already selfless act, Miss James sold raffle tickets giving the children the chance to be the one to make the first shave of her head. The raffle was won by Dexter in year 6 who did an outstanding job and certainly made sure there was no going back before handing the clippers to Miss Bilson to complete the task.
Further money was raised on Miss James' fund raising page ( https://bravetheshave.macmillan.org.uk/shavers/lesley-james ) and via our green and white non-uniform day.
There was also a huge donation from Max in 5KP, who raised £63! He was so eager to support Miss James and Macmillan, that he completed his very own Brave the Shave. Well done Max, we are very proud of you!
In total, through the selfless acts of Miss James and Max and from the generosity of our amazing school community, we are proud to confirm that we have raised in excess of £1,500.
