Dear Parent/Carer,
We recognise that many students and parents may be concerned about the possible impact of coronavirus; we appreciate that this is a particularly anxious time for students in Year 2 and 6 preparing for SATS. We want to reassure you that we are continuing to follow the advice provided by Public Health England and the Department for Education. We are emphasising to the students the need to remain calm.
Students, staff and visitors are being reminded about the importance of good hygiene and washing hands regularly. We also ask parents to remind your son/daughter to wash hands more often, especially:
- When they arrive at school or home
- After coughs and sneezes
- Before handling food
We would ask that parents continue to monitor the guidance provided by the Department of Health and Social Care and Public Health England with regard to dealing with symptoms and travel. This can be found at: https://www.gov.uk/government/topical-events/coronavirus-covid-19-uk-government-response . There is a public helpline 0800 0468687 and an email line (DfE.coronavirushelpline@education.gov.uk ). These are open from 8am to 6pm (Monday to Friday).
Parents’ Evenings this week will go ahead as planned. We will be following hygiene advice and therefore asking that teachers don’t shake hands with parents/carers.
As a precaution, we are discussing any measures we need to consider putting in place to ensure that our planned school educational visits can go ahead with minimal risk. We will provide updates in due course.
Finally, we are also making plans in the event that the School has to close, whether for a short-term closure for 1-2 days (for example, in the event of the need to carry out a deep clean of our site) or for a longer closure in the event that the Government instructs all schools to close. We will inform you about arrangements in due course, if the need arises.
Thank you for your ongoing support with regard to this matter. It is greatly appreciated.
Yours sincerely
Mrs J. Kershaw
