Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Good afternoon everyone!
We hope you have all had a wonderful Summer and are ready for the exciting term ahead!
School begins promptly at 8.55 this coming Monday, for everyone except those new to Reception, and ends at 3.15pm. There will be no staggered start and end times, or one-way system, but we recommend that parents continue to wear face coverings on school site when dropping off and collecting children, as per WCC guidelines (click here). The school gates will be open at 8.35am with doors opening at 8.45am. Please do not leave children unattended until they are safely inside the building.
If your child has not yet brought back the information regarding home walking/who will collect them, please make sure your new class teachers know your end of day arrangements before you leave them at school. This could be via a handwritten note if you have misplaced your form.
The holiday dates for the coming year (click here) and you will notice that we break up a day earlier in the Summer term. This is because our 'extra day off' for the Queen's platinum Jubilee falls in the half term holidays. Please ensure you mark this on your calendars as well as the other holiday and training day dates. Please also remember that we cannot authorise holidays during term time.
We really hope that this year is a step in the right direction in terms of getting back to the way things were, but we are still not quite there yet. We ask, therefore, that you are mindful and respectful of others when entering the school premises and that you try to socially distance wherever possible; it is up to all of us to keep our school community safe and ensure we do not head straight back into another lockdown now that restrictions have been lifted. More information about current guidance regarding Covid will be posted on the website over the next few days.

Weddington Primary would like to say a huge thank you to Peter Everitt who will be completing the East Leake Triathlon in the hope of raising £10,000 to help fund outdoor learning areas for Weddington Primary School Children.
If you would like to donate to this wonderful cause, please follow this link: Peter's fundrasing page
"2020/21 has been a tough year for us all, but non have been as affected as our children. As a parent of children at Weddington Primary School and Chair of the PTA I am all too aware that there has been very little opportunity for normal fundraising or normal fun activities, and yet we currently need this more than ever.
It is with this in mind that I decided to compete in East Leake Triathlon to raise money to create some covered outdoor learning areas, so that the school children could benefit from the ability to potentially have outdoor lessons, it could be used as outdoor reading areas, for those with Special Educational Needs it could be used as a calming area or a meditating area.
Our children are the single most important thing we can invest in, they become the product of exactly what we put in to them, and giving them all the best opportunities for learning should be our priority, so to this end I really hope that you can find it in your heart to donate to this fantastic cause."
Dear Parents and Carers,
We are very pleased to announce that we are introducing a fantastic new way to communicate and share information with you, our parent community. At Weddington Primary School, we want you to feel as much a part of your child's education as possible and feel the best way to do this is by making the best use of smartphone technology. Although we anticipate this will be a slow process, and ask you to be patient with us as we roll out MyEd, we will eventually be replacing Class Dojo with this app. We therefore request that, if possible, you install and begin using the app as soon as possible.
MyEd is a free parent app that gives you a multitude of communication and information features to keep you in touch with what is going on at Weddington. The app gives you direct access to your child's attendance and absence record and, in the future, we also hope to share their achievements and behaviours with you and collect permissions via the 'Forms' module.
We can send messages directly to the MyEd app relating to important information about your child's education and to remind you of events that are taking place at school.
You will receive a notification if, we send you a message, and there is no charge for the messages you send to us.
The MyEd app is available for both Apple iOS and Android devices and can be found using the links below:
Step 1 - Go to your App Store

We hope you enjoy using the app and find it a useful source of information.
Thank you

We are incredibly proud of our pupil, Miles, who has been growing his hair for 2 years just so he could cut it off to raise money for charity!
His Story:
At 8 years old, Miles started to grow his hair just so he could raise money for charity. Now, 2 years later, he is ready to have it shaved off!!
Miles chose to raise money for 'Edgar's Gift' which is a charity that is very close to his families heart. Also, the hair he cuts off will be donated to 'Little Princess Trust' (as it is definitely long enough!).
Miles is really excited to know that his actions will enable Edgar's Gift to support many young adults who are currently battling cancer.
His Mum says:
"He is an absolute dude and I am extremely proud of him for the dedication he has put in over the last couple of years growing his hair."
Fundraising:
Although Miles has smashed his initial fundraising target of £200 by raising over £1,100, you aren't too late to support this amazing youngster in his aim to raise money for this crucial charity.
You can find his Just Giving page here:
In the news:
He's even made it to the Coventry Telegraph!
