This year, we are really excited about our awesome topics. This term, we will be learning about 'There's No Place Like Home'; looking at the History and Geography of our local environment.
Our Spring Topic will take us on amazing adventures as we learn about 'Exciting Explorers and their Terrific Travels'.
Finally, in the Summer Term, we will travel back in time to learn about the amazing 'Medieval Knights and Castles'. We look forward to the children experiencing their journey through Year One.
Year One have had a very busy and exciting time since coming back after half term... And it isn't over yet!
We have enjoyed visits from Warwickshire Kate who explained some very important road safety rules to us about how to cross the roads safely and explaining that if we use our senses to help us we can keep so much safer.
We have also had a visit from the Anti-Bullying workshop which was really informative and fun!!! The purpose was to raise the children's awareness of the different types of bullying. Hopefully, if you question them they'll be able to tell you there is physical bullying; verbal bullying and social bullying.
As part the 100 Year Rememberance we were fortunate enough to have a lovely lady come in a sing some fabulous songs which were written and sung during the time of World War 1. Each class learnt a song of their own, we then enjoyed a whole school assembly where all of the children took turns to sing their learnt song. It sounded absolutely wonderful!
We are now very busy working on our Christmas Production which will be perfomed in front of the parents and carers on Tuesday 11th December at 9am and Wednesday 12th December at 1.45. Hopefully we'll see a few of you there.
We have had a fantastic return after Christmas and have really enjoyed learning about Extraordinary Explorers and their Terrific Travels. We have read the book 'The Great Explorer' by Chris Judge and have learned the location of hot and cold places. We have researched our own explorers as home learning and learned all about Captain Scott and his expedition to the South Pole.
