Over the next few weeks, we will be looking at writing persuasive texts.
This week, you need to prepare as much as possible for this by researching lots of information about THE RAINFORESTS of the world and why they are so very important to us and to our Earth.
Then, you need to research as much information as you can about DEFORESTATION (people cutting down enormous areas of the rainforests) and why it is so important that the rate at which this is happening at least slows down enormously, even if it cannot be entirely stopped.
Make lots of notes that you will be able to use when you do your piece of writing.
Then, colour code your notes into appropriate sections, with a key, as you have done on other similar assignments.
Ideas for what you might find it useful to research are:
Here are a few suggestions of videos and websites you might find useful (though you will also need to find more information of your own)
In a couple of weeks’ time, you will be asked to create a leaflet, showing in-depth, persuasive writing on the topic of the rainforests and deforestation. You will need to find lots of information to do this properly. Good luck!
Complete the learning screen entitled, ‘Grammar Adventure 1’, which is teaching you what is meant by the active voice and the passive voice and how to use these effectively. This skill will be helpful when you do your persuasive writing on the Rainforests and deforestation in a couple of weeks’ time.
Complete the ‘2do’ entitled, ‘Countryside Contrasts’. This will also help you with your persuasive writing by giving you suggestions on linking ideas within and between sentences and across paragraphs.
Have a read of Chapter 1 'The Time Lock Adventure' and then answer the questions set to check your understanding. Remember you can refer back to the text if you are unsure of the answer!
These are set as '2dos' on Purple Mash.
It's now time to have a go at using decimals!
On Education City have a go at:
Science Week beginning 20.04.20
Complete the learning screen entitled, ‘Do the Splits’, which is teaching you about separating materials.
It would be great if you could have a go at separating some materials at home in the ways shown on the learning screen. Before you do this however, you must ASK PERMISSION FIRST!
Maybe you could send a photo on Dojo of what you have done, which we could share with the class?
A reminder about the HISTORY PROJECT on the ANCIENT GREEKS (set on the class pages of the school website before Easter.) This will be the history task for this week. If possible, this is to be completed by 24.04 .20 and a photo of your project sent via Dojo if possible.
Don’t worry if you have not been able to complete by this date, you can still Dojo in a photo of your project after the set date.
