Weddington Primary School – Use of Pupil Premium 2015/16.           

Total Number of pupils: 402     Total number of pupils eligible for PPG = 57 @ £1,320 per pupil = £75,240

Looked After Children = 1@£1,800 = £1,800    Service Children = 4 @ £300 = £1,200      Adopted from Care = 2 @£1,800 = £3,600

Total funding = £81,840 for 64 pupils.

The Pupil Premium was introduced in April 2011 by the government and is allocated to schools to work with pupils who have been registered for free school meals at any point in the last six years (known as Ever 6 FSM ). Schools also receive funding for children who have been looked after continuously for more than six months and for children of service personnel. 

2015/16 - At Weddington Primary School we use the pupil premium grant to raise attainment and maximise achievement. Approximately 14% of the children are entitled to Pupil Premium. The grant that the school has received is £81,840 for 64 children.  Total allocation - £81,840 as detailed below.

Looked After Children = 2@£1,900 = £3,800    Service Children = 4 @ £300 = £1,200      Adopted from Care = 1 @£1,900

Total funding = £77,100.

2014/15 - At Weddington Primary School we use the pupil premium grant to raise attainment and maximise achievement. Approximately 15% of the children are entitled to Pupil Premium. The total grant that the school received was £77,100 for 61 children.  Total spend - £77,423 as detailed below.

The following interventions have been funded/partly funded:

  1. Targeted support Learning Mentor and Social Skills: The school has a LEARNING MENTOR who works with children and families on a one-to one basis to improve attendance, lead CAFs, liaise with School Health and run lunchtime support. £18,189

  2. Targeted support: Focused teaching groups for Literacy & Numeracy in Yr 6: A range of teaching staff to support a number of specific interventions aimed at securing specific levels and two levels of progress. Total £32,313

  3. Targeted support – Early Years for planning and assessment to close the gaps between disadvantage children and peers.  Overall responsibility for leadership and management of Early Reading Skills – see next target. 0.2fte DHT £7,252.

  4. Support for Early Reading & Writing skills (Staff salaries to lead & deliver RWInc project): Leadership and Management of RWInc as shown above. Support and enable teaching assistants to lead and deliver RWInc sessions in Reception and Yr1. To also deliver catchup in Yr 2 and Yr3.  This will be Part funded (67%) at a cost of £15,494            (Full Cost would be £23,219)

  5. Targeted support to develop writing across the school: Package of specialist training to enable teachers to provide engaging lessons that are fully differentiated to meet individual pupil need. £2,575

  6. Grant for disadvantaged families to support with purchase of school uniform: Those families that register for FSMs will be provided with a voucher for £50, to spend at local uniform retailer. Currently 32 families at cost of £1,600
