Inspiration drives creativity and a love of learning. At Weddington, we bring lessons to life with exciting topics, visitors, and experiences that spark curiosity and motivate children to explore the world around them. Mindfulness. Mindfulness helps us stay calm, focused, and ready to learn. At Weddington, we use mindfulness in lessons and daily activities to manage emotions and support well-being, creating a peaceful and happy school.

Weddington Primary School’s values of respect, perseverance, inspiration, aspiration, mindfulness, truth, and reflection are vital to our school as they create a strong moral and ethical foundation that guides children in their personal and academic growth. These values are not only key to academic success but also to developing well-rounded, responsible, and compassionate individuals who contribute positively to society.

How these values are embedded in the school:

  1. Daily Routines: These values are integrated into daily routines, including classroom discussions, school assemblies, and behaviour expectations. They are reinforced through visual displays around the school and in the language used by staff and children.
  2. Curriculum Integration: Values are woven into the curriculum, with lessons designed to highlight and practice these principles. For example, mindfulness is taught through activities that encourage emotional regulation, and perseverance is celebrated in subjects like maths and reading when children tackle difficult concepts.
  3. Role Modelling: Teachers and staff model these values in their interactions with children, promoting a respectful and supportive culture. By demonstrating these behaviours, adults in school serve as living examples of the values we want children to adopt.
  4. Recognition and Rewards: We celebrate and reward children who exemplify these values. Whether through certificates, shout-outs in assemblies, or class-specific recognitions, children are acknowledged for displaying respect, perseverance, and other values.
  5. Community and Parental Involvement: The school engages parents and the wider community in understanding and supporting these values. Regular communication and events encourage families to reinforce these principles at home, creating consistency between school and home life.
  6. Child Reflection and Growth: Through structured activities like journaling or end-of-day reflections, children are encouraged to think about their behaviour and learning in relation to these values, allowing them to grow and take ownership of their personal development.

By embedding these values into the fabric of daily school life, Weddington ensures that children not only understand but live by these principles, setting them up for success as kind, reflective, and driven individuals.
