This half term, our exciting topic is “How Does Your Garden Grow?” 🌱
We’ll be diving into the wonderful world of nature through a range of engaging stories, including Oliver’s Vegetables, Handa’s Surprise, and The Teeny Weeny Tadpole. These texts will inspire our learning as we explore where food comes from, how things grow, and the amazing changes that happen in the natural world.
Children will have the opportunity to:
Through hands-on activities, outdoor exploration, and creative learning, we’ll nurture curiosity and help children develop a deeper understanding of the world around them. 🌼

This half-term in Reception, our topic is “Long, Long Ago…” 🌟
We will be stepping back in time to explore the magical world of traditional tales — stories that have been told and retold for generations. Through these much-loved classics, the children will develop their storytelling skills, build vocabulary, and deepen their understanding of characters, settings and morals.
Some of the traditional tales we will be exploring include:
We will be retelling stories through role play, small world activities, puppets, and creative art. The children will also compare different versions of the same tale, talk about “good” and “bad” characters, and even create their own story endings!
This topic supports our learning in literacy, communication and language, expressive arts and design, and understanding the world — all while sparking imagination and a love of stories that have been shared long, long ago.

This half term Receptions topic is called 'This is me'. We will be learning all about our families, where we live, and people who are special to us. We will be discussing our hobbies and interests and what makes us unique. We will be exploring stories through drawing club, and we will be learning about numbers to five in maths. We will be also learning about seasons focusing on Autumn and exploring the outdoor school grounds.
