Nuneaton Festival Of Arts Winners

We were delighted to enter 20 children into the Nuneaton Festival of Arts Young Writers’ competition. There were two categories: Story Writing and Poetry.

There were over 100 entries made and we are proud to announce that pupils from Weddington Primary School were awarded 13 individual prizes as well as a whole school award. These included:

• The Eva Rushton Cup for the school showing the most promise in poetry
• 2 best in class trophies for Millicent Moore (Year 5) in the poetry class and Ella Mawson (Year 5) in the original story writing class
• 4 first places for the different age categories won by Evie Parkes (Year 1 poetry); Millicent Moore (Year 5 poetry); Libby Gallagher (Year 1 Story Writing) and Ella Mawson (Year 5 story writing).
• George Elliot trophy for creativity and potential awarded to Naomi King (Year 4).

Other prizes included:

• 3rd place for Lainee-Grace Webb (Year 1 Story Writing)
• 2nd place for Scarlett Williams (Year 2 Story Writing)
• 3rd place for Lillia Joy (Year 3 story writing)
• 2nd place for Naomi King (Year 4 poetry)
• 3rd place for Zach Cotton (Year 4 story writing)
• 2nd place for Lottie Batt (Year 5 story writing)
• 3rd place for Zac Fielding (Year 5 story writing)
• 2nd place for Kate Fripp- Higgins (Year 6 story writing)

The winning entries will be displayed in the Nuneaton Library and copies of the entries will shortly be on display outside the Key Stage 2 hall. We also hope to scan in all of the winning entries and will add them to the class pages section on the 'children's' tab. Well done to all the pupils who entered- we are very proud of you all.
